Shirley Bircher, ncidq
My roots and path: Carolina girl, through and through. My roots originate in Camel City, WS | NC. I received a B.S in Interior Architecture at UNC Greensboro- and immediately started my profession in Asheville, NC. After a year, I decided I should probably attempt to live somewhere other than the South. Having fallen in love with the outdoor life that Asheville provided, the Pacific Northwest seemed like a natural fit. I’ve lived in Bend, Oregon for the past 8 years , building my resume at an architecture company and receiving my NCIDQ.
How I balance work / life: Like most Bend-ites, I’m here to ski. I also dabble in mountain biking, glamping, and hiking. If I’m not outside, I'm probably engaging in my own personal creative life- water coloring and playing guitar.
Other passions: Charlie, my miniature dachshund that rules my world. My husband, DJ, also ruled by Charlie. Scary movies, hot yoga, family time, and beer that tastes like water.
My creative approach: I try to both live and design by these 3 values: Indulge in the playful spirit of mankind, have compassion for human failure, and remain rich in serendipity. But most importantly, I simply LOVE design; every aspect of it.
